Tompkins is a win away from reaching the third round for the third consecutive season and the fourth time in program history. “On these type of nights, it's going to be who plays good defense and who's good on the mound and doesn’t walk a lot of people and I think we were the better team in that aspect today,” Tompkins coach Kyle Humphreys said.

Both teams were scoreless through three innings before the Falcons broke the game open in the fourth. Cooper Markle’s sacrifice fly drove Gavin Brewer in, and later in the inning, Darius Woodson’s single scored Ivan Gomez from third base. In the seventh inning, Brewer drew a bases-loaded walk, scoring Woodson to make it 3-0.
