The Army will soon begin testing precision strike missiles for a post-INF world
that could supposedly shoot rocket-assisted projectiles to over a thousand miles.

However, in recent years these evolved precision strike capability due to the advent of M31 GPS-guided rocket munitions.
But officials repeatedly made it clear in public statements that the new missile’s range was ‘only constrained’ by the INF, implying greater range would be pursued should the treaty cease to be in effect. Ultimately, the Army awarded contracts to Raytheon and Lockheed-Martin to develop and test prototypes.a slimmer missile so that two can be crammed into each firing pod.
Most importantly, the Army wants the Precision Strike Missile to have open architecture and spare space in which it can incorporate later upgrades.that improved rocket motors could extend the PrSM range to 700 kilometers . However, these will take “take a couple of years to get there”, so initial variants may stick to the original 310 mile goalpost.
