Days after Eaker posted on Instagram explaining her decision, alum Kim Tessen posted as well, stating, "I'm not sharing this in an attempt to compare my trauma with Kara's. I'm sharing this in support of her and all other survivors of abusive coaching. I may not have experienced the same abuse others have, but my story still matters.
Tessen ended the post with a direct message to those who are defending the alleged behavior, including the coaching staff, athletics department and the university. " At what point is all of this worth it? What if this was someone you loved? Is there a limit on the abuse and exploitation of young women that you finally can't justify anymore? Is all the national recognition worth a young woman's life? Is all the money really worth protecting and enabling a continuously abusive culture to escalate? Are the championships worth all the work you're doing to cover this up? We shouldn't have to beg for our feelings to be recognized.
