—Update at 3:34 p.m. on May 25th— DriveBC says Highway 99 is now seeing single-lane alternating traffic north of Whistler after a serious crash earlier this afternoon.
The multi-vehicle crash took place between Heliport Road and Riverside Drive and closed the highway in both directions for a time.—Original story— If you were thinking of travelling the Sea to Sky Highway beyond Whistler Saturday afternoon, maybe wait. Currently, at 2:35 p.m. on May 25th, the highway is closed in both directions, approximately 10 kilometres north of Whistler near Heliport Road, due to a multi-vehicle incident, according to DriveBC. There's no word when the highway might reopen.
Squamish News Buff on X, a Squamish local who monitors scanner traffic, posted that a BC Emergency Health Services air ambulance has been dispatched.A request for more information was sent to Sea to Sky RCMP and BC Emergency Health Services. We will update this story if and when they reply.
