“The words that the President has used have dehumanized us, Jake. That's why a terrorist can walk into a shopping center and gun down people in such cold blood,” says Rep. Veronica Escobar. 'Because he doesn't see us as human.'

College students Chase Provencio and Randall Buchberg II want President Trump to know that he is welcomed to El Paso. “I’m here in memory of all of the victims," said Provencio, who visited a makeshift memorial outside Walmart today."I want to show him that El Paso does welcome him." Asked what he would you tell the President, the 19-year-old student said,"I believe he is doing a great job, and I believe the American people would make the right decision on the 2020 election. I can tell you this community is full of love, everyone is accepting of everyone, and this is a tragic event that should have never happened."Buchberg, 21, who was hoping to see the President today, also visited the Walmart.

"I came here largely for the same reasons a lot of people came here, this is a tragedy. I shop here all the time, I was just here last Thursday. It was a terrible thing," he said."I came with my hat on to show that Veronica Escobar doesn’t speak for all of us in saying that he’s not welcome. He does have supporters, but a lot of them hide. People come up to me and say they are but they don’t want to show it.
