Utah Gov. Spencer J. Cox and Attorney General Sean D. Reyes on Tuesday announced the state filed a lawsuit against Meta and all its social media platforms
"... The social media giant has violated the Utah Consumer Sales Practices Act by designing the platforms to trap children in excessive, harmful use that causes serious mental health issues," according to a statement issued by the governor's office. "Meta also deceived parents and young users about the safety of using Instagram and Facebook."
The suit was filed in Utah and is among multiple lawsuits filed against Meta and its subsidiaries on Tuesday, including one in California on behalf of 33 states. Including separate suits from individual states, Meta is facing challenges from 42 of the United States.This article is currently being updated. Refresh for the latest information.
