About seven in every 1,000 students in primary schools, secondary schools and institutions of higher learning have been caught for smoking and vaping offences.About 800 students were referred to the Health Sciences Authority for vaping offences in 2022. This is an increase from 2019 and 2018, when the total for both years was less than 50.

MOE previously revealed that an average of about seven in every 1,000 students in primary schools, secondary schools and IHLs have been caught for smoking and vaping offences. First-time offenders caught importing, distributing or selling e-vaporisers can be jailed for up to six months, with a maximum fine of $10,000. Repeat offenders can get a jail term of up to 12 months, along with a fine of up to $20,000.

From 2018 to 2022, 860 people were caught selling and smuggling e-vaporisers, and 145 were prosecuted in the same period.
