SAN RAFAEL – A vegetation fire in San Rafael triggered evacuations late Monday.
The San Rafael Police Department issued an advisory just after 10 p.m. that a fire was burning in the area of Deer Park and Magnolia avenues, below Highland Avenue. Around 10:45 p.m., police said the fire was burning toward Highland and Summit avenues. People were asked to evacuate the area. Police conducted door-to-door evacuations for a small number of homes, according to the San Rafael Office of Emergency Services. Others in the area were placed under an evacuation warning.
Please avoid the area. If you are in the area, please take steps to prepare in case an evacuation is needed.
