Hatch-Rivera and her wife, Darlene, live in Harrisburg. They have been together for 38 years and married for eight years.Pride Month is a time to celebrate. To celebrate who we are in all our manifestations. To celebrate how far we have come and yet how far we still have to go. It is a time for me to remember my struggles in coming out and my victories of success in being an authentic woman, lesbian, wife, family member and child of God.
As an MCC pastor, Pride Month is a more visible means of letting the LGBTQIA+ community know that here is a safe place for you to come and worship, a safe place to gather and meet others, and a safe place to be just as you are, open and affirming in all one’s glory as one made by God.Our top challenge is dealing with all the anti -LGBTQIA+ laws that are being proposed and enacted. Even here in Pennsylvania, we do not have full acceptance and safety against anti-discrimination.
