A 41-year-old man, wanted by the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB), was arrested for allegedly assaulting a police officer with a baseball bat during an arrest attempt in Bukit Batok.
A man is facing multiple charges after allegedly assaulting a police officer during an arrest in Bukit Batok on February 15. Police received a call for assistance at approximately 7:35 PM regarding a man attempting to hit a woman with a baton at Block 81 Whampoa Drive. While officers were en route, the suspect fled the scene. Through subsequent investigations, officers from the Tanglin Police Division identified and located the 41-year-old suspect.
Upon confrontation, the man became aggressive and refused to cooperate. During the arrest attempt, he allegedly attacked an officer with a baseball bat and threw a mug at him. The 49-year-old officer sustained injuries to his head and wrist, requiring two days of medical leave.The suspect is scheduled to be charged in court on February 17 with attempted voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons and voluntarily causing hurt to deter a public servant from the discharge of his duty. Furthermore, he is under investigation for criminal intimidation, causing hurt by an act that endangers the personal safety of others, and intentionally causing harassment.The offense of attempted voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons carries a potential prison sentence of up to seven years, a fine, caning, or a combination thereof. It was later revealed that the individual was wanted by the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB).
