Steve Kerr has never lost a Western Conference playoff series, and over the final few weeks, he plans on treating every game like a playoff game.
On Tuesday, the Warriors’ plan focused on taking the ball out of Damian Lillard’s hands.
They blitzed Lillard with two defenders and committed a third defender to take away his drive. They ran janky zones, like a box-and-one, and left lesser shooters wide open in the process. Not every team will make it as “simple” for Kerr and company — few teams have a star like Lillard who demands a specific game plan. But the fact remains that Kerr has never lost a Western Conference playoff series as the Warriors’ head coach — he might be ok at scheming for big games.
