Curry was wheeling and dealing, but hardly shooting, in the Dubs' Game 2 blowout victory at Chase Center.
fans usually expect from their favorite player — and the Dubs still won easily, 127-100.
Curry shot just 12 times in 30 minutes, among the fewest attempts in his illustrious postseason career. He made the most of his opportunities, though, converting on seven of those shots, finishing with 20 points, 12 assists, and just three turnovers. He looked more like a prime Chris Paul, and for at least one night, that was exactly what Golden State needed.
Curry sliced and diced a lazy Lakers defense that didn’t want the greatest 3-point shooter ever to get shots off. They succeeded in that specific endeavor, sort of, but double teams and intense pressure were no match for Curry’s pick-and-roll game. And unfortunately for Los Angeles, their opponent also has the second-best 3-point shooter of all time, who was happy to keep chucking in Curry’s absence.
Every Warriors starter eclipsed double-figures in scoring: Andrew Wiggins had 11, Draymond Green had 11 , and in just 13 minutes, JaMychal Green — yes, the man who garnered somefrom onlookers when coach Steve Kerr inserted him into the starting five — had 15 points himself. Jordan Poole had yet another underwhelming game, but given the outcome, it didn’t matter at all.
With eight minutes to go in the fourth quarter, the Lakers had already waved the white flag, and the Warriors were happy to send their own starters to the bench for extra rest, too. This is a series between two teams with slowly aging stars, and it showed at Chase Center. Content with stealing Game 1 in San Francisco, the Lakers looked listless and disinterested on Thursday, a solid 33-26 first quarter advantage aside.
