"We’re disappointed that instead of working productively with companies across the industry to create clear, age-appropriate standards for the many apps teens use, the attorneys general have chosen this path,” the company added. In a press release, Ferguson said Meta designed features to provide prolonged and repeated dopamine, or “feel-good,” responses that discourage users from leaving the apps once they open them, tapping into their “fear of missing out.”Push notifications that ping the user repeatedly with sounds, vibrations or other audiovisual alertsFerguson and the other attorneys general said there are changes Meta can make that still allow the company to make money without strongly impacting youth.
