During the latest drought outlook from the NOAA, experts said that Washington state is forecasted to remain warmer than normal.

Nearly half of Washington has been suffering from “extreme” or “severe” drought, according to the latest data from the U.S. Drought Monitor.“We had long stretches of warmer than normal just day after day after day so that really sucked the water out of the area," said Brent Bower, Senior Service Hydrologist with the National Weather Service in Seattle.
“The prediction center looked at all of the things, including El Niño, and their outlook was over the whole winter warmer than normal temperatures," said Bower. The impact on our water supply caused Seattle Public Utilities and other cities to ask their customers to voluntarily use less water. With the upcoming wet season, experts remain hopeful that our water supply will get better.
