Water main break shuts down Scripps Ranch intersection [Breaking]

A Scripps Ranch intersection was shut down Friday after water main break flooded the roadway.

The pipe near Scripps Ranch Boulevard and Scripps Lake Drive broke about 5 a.m., city public utilities spokesperson Arian Collins. Crews don’t know why the pipe — 20 inches in diameter — broke, nor do they know when it will be fixed.Water to the pipe was turned off, but with a pipe that size, it takes time for the water to clear out, which may have given the appearance that the pipe was still on.“We are going to try to restore it as soon as possible,” he said.
