Update: Westbound I-70 east of Vail reopens after multi-vehicle crash
Drivers along I-70 were diverted onto a south frontage road for more than four hours Friday as crews worked to clear the crash. The westbound lanes were closed between Vail Pass Summit, Exit 190, and Vail, Exit 176, according to a 7:04 a.m. tweet Friday by the Colorado Department of Transportation.
The westbound closure was extended a short time later, from Copper Mountain, Exit 195, to the Vail Exit 176, according to a CDOT 9:02 a.m. tweet.A CSP image of the crash, posted on Twitter, showed semi-trailers involved in the crash with debris scattered on the highway.
