Parents and students are rallying for Houston ISD to reinstate Westbury band director Reginald Washington, who will be removed from his position in May after 17 years at the high school.

"I felt betrayed because I hoped to graduate like my sister and be a part of the legacy Mr. Washington has created," said Ana Garcia, a sophomore band member."Our principal has failed the students by removing a person that truly cares about us." Calandra Boson said parents like her learned about Washington's removal earlier this month shortly after the band brought home a first place trophy from a competition in Louisiana. She said the principal has offered no explanation for the apparent removal and has been unresponsive to parent questions.
