We asked Amelia Meath of SylvanEsso about the sneakers she owns in more than 20 styles, the “heavenly” butter she bakes with, and the trampoline she brings on the road
. I got my first pair when I was 12 because of the Spice Girls. I wore through them in, like, a year. Then I couldn’t find them because I was in the States and had been dreaming about them for years.
When Sylvan Esso started in 2012, I realized I wanted to perform in them, so I found an incredible shoe website — solestruck.com, which is no longer with us — and they had somehow tapped into the motherload of Buffalo sneakers. I now have more than 20 different pairs of mostly the bigger versions: a pair with Smarties on them, another leopard-print pair, and another with beautiful gold chains.
