This scene provides a BIG clue!

Netflix's big hit has returned for another wild adventure as the citizens of Hawkins, Indiana try to uncover the big mystery that continues to plague the town.Not everyone was able to survive the final showdown between the citizens of Hawkins vs. the Russians and the Mind Flayer.
However, the mid-credits scene seems to point to the fact that Hopper might actually be alive, just in a completely different country. The scene takes place in a base in Russia, where it seems like they've found a Demogorgon of their own. When they decide to feed a prisoner to the crazy monster, one of the guards mentions that there is an American prisoner being held in the facility.
