Beauty tools, salons and aesthetic clinics are getting a high-tech makeover.
SINGAPORE – On your next visit to a beauty salon or aesthetic clinic, do not be surprised if your beauty consultant or therapist turns out to be a robot.
AI-powered bots, devices and apps are revolutionising the beauty industry, introducing a new era of precision and personalisation. The French cosmetics giant is set to unveil Kerastase’s K-Scan, an AI-powered hair and scalp scanner, locally following the March launch of YSL Beauty’s Rouge Sur Mesure, which uses AI to personalise lip colours on demand.
“Beauty tech has helped us form stronger relationships with our consumers and understand them better.” “We saw the potential AI had to really shake things up and make our services even better, so we took the plunge and invested over half a million dollars in AI,” says Ms Nicolette Chia, 30, business manager at Only Aesthetics. “We believe it’s worth every cent to keep us ahead of the competition and give our customers the treatments they deserve.”
While the initial reception of SculptAI among customers has been overwhelmingly positive, there are some who remain sceptical. Imagine being able to preview exactly how Botox, fillers or other injectables would change your appearance – before undergoing the procedure. This is now possible at Dr Kevin Chua Medical & Aesthetics clinic at International Building, where a game-changing AI beauty simulator app offers patients a glimpse into their potential post-tweakment selves.
Dr Kevin Chua says the AI simulator has been an essential part of their clinic’s consultation process since early August. Clients are first required to download the MyBeautyHealth app, and input their skin conditions and concerns. This information is then stored on a common cloud-connected platform, which can track real-time knowledge of client preferences, treatment history and skin concerns, and is accessible across any clinic using the Syndeo machine.
“Today’s clients are more informed and tech-savvy. They want treatments that deliver results without any downtime, and the Syndeo allows us to do just that,” adds the 30-year-old.However, while the Syndeo is fully operational in its core functions – offering deep cleansing, exfoliation and antioxidant infusion – the AI-powered MyBeautyHealth app is still awaiting regulatory approval from Personal Data Protection Commission Singapore.
When the Lushair Scalp Explorer, a portable scalp diagnostics device powered by AI, debuted in Singapore in April, it swiftly broke through the Asia-Pacific market, receiving orders from the US and achieving over $10,000 in revenue in two months.Having grappled with hair loss during her college years, the Singapore-based Shanghainese realised that there was a lack of effective and accessible solutions for precise scalp analysis and personalised hair care.
