“The good news is the air is getting cleaner,” said Tracey Holloway, an air quality researcher at the University of Wisconsin at Madison. “But the bad news is researchers are finding there are health effects at lower levels of exposure.” To say the newly affected industries aren’t happy about joining the bad neighbor list is an understatement.
What the EPA is proposing to do “threatens to hamstring the economy and national security with extended downtime or closures and resultant shortages of domestic iron and steel supply,” U.S. Steel wrote in its response to the Good Neighbor Plan.
