Suzume will be in theaters this Friday, but what about for fans who want to enjoy watching the hit anime from the comfort of their own homes?

While movie fans will be able to see the smash-hit film Suzume in cinemas and theaters starting on April 14, 2023, those unable or unwilling to see the film outside, need not worry, as it will likely be made accessible for streaming soon. Makoto Shinkai's new film Suzume will hit American cinemas this Friday, and every indication suggests Suzume will be as popular here as it has been in Japan.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Sony has acquired the exclusive rights to distribute the film online, which means fans can expect to find the movie on the entertainment company's Crunchyroll brand anime streaming service. Unfortunately, at this time, there has been no official announcement from either Sony or Crunchyroll as to when Suzume will be available online.

Suzume Will Stream Exclusively on Crunchyroll The movie tells the story of Suzume, a teenage girl who can literally see ghosts and other supernatural beings, as she sets out to save the world from a sinister force seeping into reality from a door only she can see. The problem is the only person who can help her - a young man by the name of Munakata is injured, forcing Suzume to figure out how to win the day on her own.

After debuting in Japan on November 2022, the film has begun its worldwide rollout release last month. The film was first released internationally in China and quickly rose to be one of the most popular debuts of Japanese anime in China ever. In addition to the film releasing in the U.S. this Friday, it will also be premiering in Canada, the United Kingdom, and most of Europe.

The film is director Makoto Shinkai's seventh major animated film release, but if the previous two films, namely Your Name and Weathering With You are any indications of how Suzume will do, then it is likely to be one of this year's best anime movies. Like Suzume, both Your Name and Weathering With You follow the story of average teenagers who are suddenly forced to come to grips with supernatural forces they do not understand, but must nevertheless overcome.
