Some signs to look for that the protests in Hong Kong are coming to an end.

“Public sentiment is still in favor of the protesters, but I would say its 50/50. On an average day, I would talk to two who disagree and two who agree,” she said in a phone interview on Thursday. “This is impacting Hong Kong’s economy and people’s livelihood. It’s hurting tourism. A few are getting sick of it, definitely.”
It doesn’t. China takes over Hong Kong fully in 2047 as part of its agreement after the British handover of Hong Kong to China in the late 1990s. That may not be entirely true. At least not yet. But Beijing gives them a selection of six or so people to choose from so it’s not a free selection,” Li says. “This is why you see the American flags and the old colonial British flags.
“I don’t know how much longer Carrie Lam can last, to be honest,” says Li. “Someone’s head has to roll. Something‘s got to be done to placate the protesters.” Tourist arrivals dropped 31% annualized in the first week in August. When the airport was closed for two days this month, tourist arrivals fell an additional 33%.
