The White House has ripped what it described as Gov. Ron DeSantis's "discriminatory" policies after the NAACP issued an advisory warning black people against traveling to Florida.

"We've been outspoken about the impact of misguided policies advanced by Florida lawmakers," press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters Tuesday."Republicans in Florida have attacked diversity. They've attacked inclusion efforts. They've limited the teaching of black history."Jean-Pierre also referenced Florida Republican policies regarding women, the gay community, immigrants, and teachers.

"This administration is going to, as we have for the past two years, continue to speak out against discriminatory policies pushed by state leaders across the country, we have seen them across the country, by Republicans, extreme Republicans putting forth these policies, this legislation, that hurt Americans, that take away their freedom," she said."That's what we believe is our duty to do here. That's what the president believes.

The NAACP issued a travel advisory for Florida last weekend in response to DeSantis's"aggressive attempts to erase black history and to restrict diversity, equity, and inclusion programs in Florida schools." The League of United Latin American Citizens and LGBTQ advocacy group Equality Florida have circulated similar notices in the past.DeSantis’s deputy press secretary, Jeremy Redfern, has dismissed the NAACP's advisory as “nothing more than a stunt.
