Across the U.S., a shortage of car parts has collided with a continuing dearth of service technicians. The result: more frustrated customers, who are waiting longer to get their cars back, and paying more for service.
Patrick Yang, 30, has worked as a mechanic at Bowman Auto in Clarkston, Mich., for a year. During that time, Bowman has seen an increase in repair orders, as drivers have held on to their aging vehicles or bought out their leases.
