A former refugee himself, Malim was born in a refugee camp in Kenya. His family immigrated to the U.S. in 1999, when he was four years old. Ever since making it to America and being the first in his family to attend college, Malim has been dedicated to giving back to his community. “The work that I’m doing to help refugees is a dream come true,” he says. “The more you give, the more you are blessed. “This was when I realized my true calling in life,” Malim says. “In that moment, I knew that I had to do something. It was the birth of my being a social entrepreneur activist. I wanted to help refugees and to tackle the misconceptions about refugees in the media. I felt a sense of urgency and warmth in my heart. I was called to this, my ultimate purpose. I feel happy and passionate about my work. As a former refugee, it is my duty to change the narrative of my people.
