Larvae hatch from the eggs and quickly burrow into the plant stems, causing them to wilt and die. The fourth-generation, family-owned farm originally built its brand on growing and selling onions, but ceased its onion production more than a decade ago to focus solely on the more lucrative crop of pumpkins, farm manager Justin Lusk says.
