Will the op-ed by Harvey Weinstein's defense attorney, Donna Rotunno, help or hurt him?
Last week, the jury in the Harvey Weinstein case heard closing arguments. As one of the most crucial points in a jury trial, this is usually the final opportunity for a defense or prosecution team to hammer in the reasons why a jury should believe the evidence they’ve presented and either acquit or charge a client.
Judge James Burke wasn’t pleased with Rotunno’s op-ed. He’d already warned her not to speak with the press until a verdict had been reached and he “She’s clearly talking about her client,” says Allred. “His name is in the headline! Clearly, if you read the op-ed, this is about Harvey Weinstein. It wasn’t about the jury system overall. It’s an insult to our intelligence to say it’s not about him.”
