A 68-year-old woman was left injured after getting knocked down by a minibus at Block 36 Chai Chee Avenue on Tuesday afternoon .
In response to a Stomp query, the police said they were alerted to the accident involving a minibus and a pedestrian at around 12.25pm."A 68-year-old male driver was arrested for careless driving causing grievous hurt," police added., the bus driver was ferrying students home when he allegedly crashed into a carpark gantry, hitting a woman who was crossing the road.The minibus, an Awwa social service vehicle, had a notice on its side stating that it had special needs children on board.
When members of the public approached the minibus driver and asked how the accident happened, he told them that he had dozed off, reported Shin Min. An Awwa spokesman said it was aware of the accident and that the driver was"an employee of our appointed external transport vendor". The spokesman added:"No Awwa students have suffered any injuries. We will continue to monitor the well-being of those concerned.Police investigations are ongoing.
