New: You can now listen to articles.SINGAPORE: A woman was charged on Wednesday with causing the death of a pedestrian by colliding with her while riding a faulty bicycle.
Chinese national Li Lanying, 52, was handed one count of causing death by a negligent act, not amounting to culpable homicide. According to the charge, Li was riding a bicycle along Martaban Road towards Balestier Road at about 9.10pm on Mar 8, 2023.Li is accused of riding the bicycle, despite knowing it was not in serviceable condition due to its faulty rear brakes.Li did not give any indication of how she would plead.She said she did not know what to do with the charge, and that the situation at home"is bad". Li added she did not have a Singaporean bailor - the court had offered her bail of S$15,000.
