South Carolina police have described the death as 'suspicious.'
Kershaw County Sheriff's Office officials said the body was located in the bin off Highway 1, in Lugoff, after a passer-by smelled a bad odor on Saturday, December 31.
It was later found that the body had been in the bin for much longer, with police investigating whether it could have been there for months, according to the Associated Press.Police handout "The body appears to have been in the bin for months. We believe it is an adult female based on the clothing located on the body."
Police said the victim's identity, location of the death as well as the date and cause of the death were not known at this time.
