The judge denied a request to detain the women pending trial, but did add conditions to their release.
Aimee Lonczak, 49, and Michele Nycz, 58, both of Brick Township, were arrested on Dec. 3 and released following a Dec. 8 detention hearing under the conditions that they were to have no contact with animals and not return to the home without written approval from the court, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said.
Lonczak’s attorney, Glenn Kassman, declined to comment on the case. Nycz’s attorney, Andrew Hannwacker, could not be reached for comment Tuesday evening. When officers arrived, they spoke with Lonczak and Nycz in the driveway of the house — and could immediately smell a strong odor coming from the residence, police said. They also heard barking.
According to Brick Township Police, officers at first believed that there were only 30 animals inside the home. But after accessing the situation closer, it became apparent that there were many more.
