A forthcoming cadre meeting will determine the political fate of Singapore's Workers' Party Secretary-General Pritam Singh after his conviction for deceiving a parliamentary committee. The agenda includes a call for his resignation and a potential secret ballot, while public debate focuses on possible successors.

The Workers' Party of Singapore is set to hold a critical cadre meeting on February 17, 2025, to address the political future of its Secretary-General, Pritam Singh , following his conviction for lying to a parliamentary committee.

The meeting, chaired by policy research head Gerald Giam, was called after 25 cadre members requisitioned it. The agenda has three parts: Singh must account for the charges that led to his conviction; there will be a call for him to step down immediately; and if he refuses, a secret ballot will be held to decide whether he retains his position. Singh had appealed his conviction, but the High Court dismissed his appeal on December 4, 2024.

Later that same day, the party will hold its biennial ordinary cadre members' conference, where elections for the secretary-general, chairperson, and the 12 members of the central executive committee will occur. Public commentary indicates many netizens believe Singh will retain his role, citing his leadership in expanding the party's parliamentary presence since 2018, including winning the Sengkang Group Representation Constituency in 2020.

However, others argue his leadership is untenable due to the loss of trust from the conviction. Speculation about potential successors has centered on He Ting Ru and Jamus Lim, both Sengkang MPs, with some also mentioning former chief Low Thia Khiang as a possible comeback candidate
