A reader calls District 1 City Councilman Mario Bravo’s conduct toward District 7 Councilwoman Ana Sandoval “disgraceful and unprofessional.”Most of the letters to the editor about the movement of migrants to other parts of the country have been negative.
Texas is not getting help from the federal government, including help enforcing our immigration laws. The burden on border cities is almost incomprehensible. So far, it has been OK for our nationally elected officials to overlook the problem, but all of a sudden moving 50 migrants to Martha's Vineyard, compared with millions entering border states, prompts a national uproar.I urge our U.S. senators to pass crucial reforms to the Electoral Count Act of 1887, also known as the ECA.
The House bill would also raise the bar for objecting to elector slates and define what can be called a “failed” election. These and other critical ECA reforms will shore up our democracy to help stop any slide into fascism and dictatorship.
