PETALING JAYA: Local Government and Housing Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin was not involved in negotiations or gave approval for two projects that were awarded via direct negotiations, claims her political secretary.

Nor Hizwan Ahmad said the negotiations were allegedly instead carried out by then finance minister Lim Guan Eng.

“I am very sure that the ministry has kept the relevant documents and the chronology of how the projects finally received the greenlight from the Finance Ministry for it to continue,” Nor Hizwan said in a statement Thursday . Nor Hizwan also said he was not surprised with the mentality of the Opposition who were attacking the government.

Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz had released a list 101 contracts worth RM6.61bil awarded under direct negotiations on Wednesday . All together, 20 ministries were said to be involved in the 101 government projects that were awarded via direct negotiations during Pakatan Harapan’s administration.In response, Zuraida had claimed that the two contracts were awarded via direct negotiations without her knowledge and that the ministry was committed to carrying out investigations into the issue.
