Software AG CEO: Everyone wants to become a service provider. But 'once you get a service agreement with the customer, then you’ve got to understand technology.'

In the past, integration was always a technology issue and the CIO's problem. Now it's more and more a business opportunity. Businesses look at integration APIs as an opportunity to be able to offer more flexibility, more efficiency, more value to customers, to be able to do things in flexible, modular and easy ways.
Because everything is moving to subscription and Software as a Service model, then the risk associated with starting and doing things is much smaller, because you're basically buying as you consume. So the business is able to make more decisions. By that virtue, it becomes important for the CEO and other C-levels, because they're making decisions right now, so they need to understand what they're deciding about, then they want to know how to get the data moved.
Q: Why don't established companies seem to embrace disruption? Is it something in their culture or is it technology holds them back?
