Watch the animated video for j_smthng's '1 Dad'

has the Father in mind in with irreverent "#1 Dad," whose animated video is premiering exclusively below.

"I'm not a religious person; I just always found the topic to be interesting. So I did some reading, and there's a lot of good stuff to talk about in there -- a lot of backstabbing, debauchery, stuff people don't necessarily think is interesting when they think of the Bible. I just kind of take it out of context and put it in a different kind of setting, maybe not take these things so literally and look at like a father whose kids do all this stuff.

Then again, this the same guy who essays about Jesus' "Ass Like Gold" on another of the nine-song set's tracks -- though Something considers that song less Biblical satire and more of a "Dylanseque bunch of random, disconnected verses that ties together in the end."is, in fact, its own kind of disconnected piece. Most of the songs for He credits Solitaire Records with "seeing more than I saw" in the material but is happy with the result.

Something has been working steadily on new material since these first two albums were recorded back in 2017. In fact, he's working on three more albums concurrently, one that he says is "pretty similar" to the first two while also leaning toward what he calls "Gothic folks." The other two, meanwhile, are "definitely a little more '80s-tinged going into some very different territory.

"It's weird because I've never had so much time in between making projects before this," Something says. "I've had a lot of gestation time to think about things -- almost too much time, in my opinion. I miss the sort of artificial pressure I would put on myself, like, 'I need to put an album out soon!' My taste has ebbed and flowed in the past two years.
