Brantley, who underwent surgery last August and has not played a game for the Astros in nearly 11 months, appeared on the verge of returning after he completed a nine-game rehab assignment with Class AAA Sugar Land last week. Butfrom the team’s road trip on Wednesday to get further evaluation on his bothersome shoulder.
“He had a minor setback where he has some inflammation in his shoulder so we’re going to shut him down for a while to try to get the inflammation out of there,” Baker said. “It’s a little discouraging for him and for us, especially for him because he put in so much time and work and effort. He was really close to coming back, and nobody can understand or explain where the inflammation came from because it wasn't a play or a swing or a dive or anything.
