The Medina County Park District thanked their volunteers with a dinner and award presentation at Buffalo Creek Retreat.
Medina County Park District volunteers were treated to a fried chicken dinner with all the fixings Aug. 23 at Buffalo Creek Retreat. MEDINA, Ohio -- The Medina County Park District utilizes the skills and enthusiasm of many volunteers to help maintain its many parks and programs. To reward the workers for their efforts, each year the park district’s staff hosts a Volunteer Appreciation Night.This year, the event was held Wednesday at Buffalo Creek Retreat, 8708 Hubbard Valley Road.
Each attendee received a “bindle” -- a stick with a colorful bandanna tied around a baseball cap embroidered with the park symbol and the words “Medina County Park District Volunteer.”He mentioned the $1.1 million gift recently given to the Friends of the Parks by the Gienke family and the $10 million in grants awarded to the parks that have funded the acquisition of 1,200 acres in the past 4½ years.Somebody got creative building this indoor campfire at Buffalo Creek Retreat during the Aug.
Next, awards for 10 years of service were given to Connie Busemeyer, Heather Donley, Bill Flowers, Roberta Gifford, Gerry Placko, Ken Schell, William Stitt and Donna Swan.
