Opinion: The desire to bring Americans home is understandable, but it’s a phony achievement if withdrawal from Syria lets the enemy regroup and forces us to return again all too soon
The U.S. announced Saturday that Islamic State has been cleared from its last territorial strongholds in Iraq and Syria, and give the Trump Administration credit for fulfilling a campaign promise. But don’t forget that this five-year military effort would not have been needed if the Obama Administration hadn’t left the region prematurely.
