A family was left stranded on an aerobridge at Changi Airport's Terminal 4 after disembarking a Cathay Pacific flight. The incident lasted for 30 minutes, during which they were unable to contact airport authorities or medical emergency services. Cathay Pacific is investigating the matter.
A group of passengers, including a woman, her elderly mother in a wheelchair, and a domestic helper, were stranded on an aerobridge after disembarking a Cathay Pacific flight on Sunday (Dec 29). The passenger, Michele Yap, shared their experience on social media, stating they were trapped behind a locked arrival gate for 30 minutes. Yap expressed concern for her mother's well-being, who was reportedly traumatized by the ordeal.
An airport staff member present with them attempted to contact airport police but was unsuccessful due to high call volume. Yap stated that they were unable to reach the medical emergency line as well, highlighting the difficulty in getting assistance. After 30 minutes, a staff member eventually reached their supervisor, who sent someone to unlock the gate and release them. Yap mentioned that they were not the last passengers to disembark and even had to return to the plane to seek help. AsiaOne has reached out to Yap for further information. Cathay Pacific responded to Yap's post on Instagram, acknowledging the situation and promising to investigate. In a statement to AsiaOne, a Cathay Pacific spokesperson confirmed the incident and apologized to Yap
