Scoot has reinstated its card processing fees for flights departing from Singapore, effective February 10. The budget airline announced this decision on Wednesday (February 19), stating that the fees are necessary to offset the costs associated with processing payments made with credit or debit cards by financial institutions. This move reverses the airline's decision in 2019 to eliminate these fees.
Prior to this, Scoot had already reintroduced similar card processing fees for flights departing from several other destinations, including Australia, Japan, Taiwan, and Thailand, in 2024. The reimplemented fees, which vary between 1.4 percent and 2.26 percent, will only apply to bookings made using credit or debit cards. Customers opting for alternative payment methods, such as PayNow, Scoot vouchers, or KrisFlyer miles, will not be subject to these additional charges. The airline's website indicates that the payment processing fee will be calculated based on the specific type of card used for the transaction. Scoot emphasized that customers have the flexibility to choose the payment option that best meets their needs and reassured that the airline regularly reviews its fees and charges, making adjustments as necessary
