Lion City Sailors winger Khairin Nadim has made a significant leap in his football career, securing a one-and-a-half-year move to Portuguese second-division side FC Vizela. The 20-year-old will primarily feature for Vizela's under-23 squad while being closely observed by the first-team coaches. This move marks a dream realized for Nadim, who has always aspired to play in Europe.

He expressed his excitement, stating, 'Playing in Europe has always been my goal, and I'm happy to be able to realise this dream. I'm not just representing the Sailors, but also Singapore as a young player here.' Nadim's journey began in the Singapore Premier League (SPL) where he achieved notable milestones. At 15 years and 298 days, he became the youngest debutant in the league's history while playing for the Young Lions in 2020. This record is now held by Nathan Mao, who debuted at 15 years and 5 days for the Sailors in 2023. Nadim also holds the record for the second-youngest Singaporean to score in the SPL, netting against BG Tampines Rovers at 16 years and 194 days. The Sailors signed Nadim when he was 17.Technical director Luka Lalic commended Nadim's talent, describing him as 'technically gifted, quick to find solutions in tight spaces, and adept at beating defenders with pace and natural flair.' Vizela's sporting director Toni Dovale echoed these sentiments, stating, 'I've heard very good things about Khairin Nadim. That proved to be the case in his trials with us, and we're excited to see how far his potential can take him.' Vizela's first team currently competes in Liga Portugal 2, where they occupy eighth place in an 18-team league. This move marks a significant step for Nadim, following in the footsteps of other Singaporean footballers who have ventured into Portuguese football, including Nur Muhammad Asis, who signed with Estrela da Amadora last year. Other Singaporeans actively playing in Portuguese football include former Sailors midfielder Matin Ilhan and teenagers Aymann Aris and Krishav Ram
