Thailand's immigration authorities are set to implement a digital arrival card system for all foreign visitors beginning May 1, 2025. This online form, known as the TM6, will replace the currently suspended paper card used for arrival and departure details. All travelers entering and leaving Thailand via air, land, or seaports will be required to complete the digital TM6 form prior to their arrival.
The online form will collect personal and travel information, including passport details and a Thai address.The move towards a digital arrival card system is aimed at enhancing security and tracking tourists during their stay in Thailand. Tourism Minister Natthriya Thaweevong highlighted that this system will bolster confidence in Thailand's security standards, particularly important in the wake of recent incidents that have raised concerns among some international travelers, especially those from China. The use of paper TM6 forms for foreign arrivals by air was suspended in July 2022 to stimulate tourism and alleviate congestion at immigration checkpoints. The suspension period is scheduled to end on April 30, 2025, at which point the digital TM6 will become mandatory. A Ministry of Tourism source, speaking anonymously, suggested that the implementation of the online TM6 form could also lead to a postponement of the planned 300 baht (S$12) tourism fee. Thailand's tourism industry is actively targeting 40 million foreign visitors in 2025, following a successful 2024 that saw over 35.5 million arrivals and 1.6 trillion baht in tourism revenue
