According to the police report, the driver of the Mazda failed to yield the right of way when making the turn and crashed into a Ford Taurus traveling south in the second lane.
Two women were sent to the hospital in critical condition after a drunken driver hit their vehicle on the West Side late Saturday night,The women, ages 18 and 69, were traveling in a Mazda Tribute, one driving and one in the backseat, turning left onto South General McMullen Drive from a private driveway at the intersection of Castroville Road.
The Taurus hit the driver’s side of the Mazda, sending the two women in the vehicle to the hospital in critical but stable condition, said the police. The driver of the Taurus was not deemed at fault for the crash but was taken into police custody on a charge of driving while intoxicated, according to the SAPD.
