In typical 2019 fashion, social media trolls are to blame
On Wednesday, the Oscar-nominated actor announced that he was deleting his app, Jeremy Renner Official—which allowed Renner stans unmitigated access to their favorite celeb’s social content, as well as exclusive content like photos and music.
In his aesthetically beguiling goodbye message, Renner said the app was shutting down because of trolls who ran rampant on it, impersonating him and other users. “The app has jumped the shark. Literally,” he wrote, which is, literally, a thing we would like to see. “Due to clever individuals that were able to manipulate ways to impersonate me and others within the app I have asked Escapex, the company that runs this app to shut it down immediately and refund anyone who has purchased any stars over the last 90 days.
