Singapore Lottery Winner Takes Home S$12.8 Million in Toto Cascade Draw

A single lottery ticket holder in Singapore won nearly S$13 million in the Toto cascade draw on May 4. The jackpot had been growing for weeks due to no winners in previous draws, and the cascade system ensured a substantial payout. Meanwhile, helium supply concerns may affect the country's semiconductor industry.

A single lottery ticket holder in Singapore has won a staggering S$12,813,283 in the Toto cascade draw held on Monday, May 4. The winning numbers were 7, 18, 19, 30, 36, and 48, with 11 as the additional number.

The prize was claimed by a single ticket purchased through Singapore Pools' account betting service, identified as a QuickPick Ordinary ticket. It remains unknown whether the winner is an individual or part of a group. While the top prize went to one lucky winner, 17 other tickets secured the Group 2 prize, each receiving over S$87,000.

The jackpot had been growing steadily since April 23, starting at over S$1.2 million and rising to more than S$5.7 million by April 30 due to consecutive draws without a Group 1 winner. The Toto cascade system, which mandates the jackpot distribution in the fourth draw if no one wins the top prize in three consecutive draws, further boosted the prize pool. This mechanism led to the substantial payout on May 4.

The previous cascade draw on January 29 saw six winning tickets share a jackpot of S$13.5 million. Following this win, long queues are expected at Toto outlets as public interest surges. Singapore Pools has urged the public to gamble responsibly.

Meanwhile, concerns over helium supply due to the Middle East conflict may impact Singapore’s semiconductor industry. Helium, a critical component in chipmaking, could become scarcer, potentially reducing output and increasing manufacturing costs in the coming months, according to an RHB economist
