Changi Airport has witnessed a remarkable recovery in passenger traffic in 2024, nearing pre-pandemic levels . According to Changi Airport Group (CAG), the airport handled 67.7 million passengers in 2024, representing 99.1% of the passenger movements recorded in 2019, before the Covid-19 pandemic.
This surge in passenger numbers is attributed to the introduction of eight new passenger airlines - Aero Dili, AirAsia Cambodia, Air Canada, Air Japan, Loong Air, Peach Aviation, Tianjin Airlines, and West Air - which have established 11 new passenger city connections for Singapore. These connections link travellers from Singapore to destinations such as Broome, Brussels, Guiyang, Kertajati, Lhasa, Linyi, Malacca, Phu Quoc, Quanzhou, Vancouver, and Wenzhou. Changi Airport also experienced a significant increase in flight operations, with approximately 366,000 flights taking off or landing in 2024, a 11.5% rise compared to 2023. The airport's strong performance is further evidenced by its ranking as the fourth-busiest international airport in terms of airline seat capacity in 2024, according to OAG Aviation data. Changi Airport secured 41.5 million total seats, narrowly missing the third spot held by Incheon International Airport in South Korea.Transport Minister Chee Hong Tat expressed confidence in Changi Airport's continued growth, anticipating that passenger traffic will exceed pre-pandemic levels in 2025. He highlighted the crucial role played by aviation workers and airline partners in achieving this remarkable recovery. Changi Airport's journey back to its pre-pandemic glory is a testament to the resilience of the aviation industry and the enduring appeal of Singapore as a global travel hub
