A family was stranded on an aerobridge at Changi Airport for 30 minutes after disembarking a Cathay Pacific flight due to a locked arrival gate.
A group of passengers, including a woman, her elderly mother on a wheelchair, and a domestic helper, found themselves stuck on an aerobridge after disembarking a Cathay Pacific plane on Sunday (Dec 29). The passenger, Michele Yap, wrote on social media that the trio were trapped behind a locked arrival gate for 30 minutes. Yap said her 81-year-old mother was traumatized by the experience. A woman identified as airport staff was also with them.
In a video, the staff member told Yap she was calling the airport police but was unable to get through due to a 'high call volume'. Yap wrote that they were unable to reach the airport police or get through on the medical emergency line. After 30 minutes, she said staff eventually reached their supervisor to get someone to let them out.Yap stated they were not the last passengers to disembark and she was able to walk back onto the plane to find someone who could help. AsiaOne reached out to Yap for more information. Cathay Pacific responded to Yap's post on Instagram the same day, stating they understood how frustrating this must have been, especially for her mother, and were investigating the matter.
