An unemployed Vietnamese woman's extended stay at Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park, coupled with her soliciting money from park visitors, has drawn attention and led to multiple police interventions. The article details her living situation, her interactions with the public, and the differing perspectives of park users and the security personnel.

Concerns have been raised regarding an unemployed Vietnamese woman who has been residing in Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park for months, prompting multiple police visits. Public unease stems from her solicitation of money from park visitors. A reader, identified as Wang, reported seeing the woman in a pavilion at the park since December 2025. Initially, Wang assumed the woman's presence was temporary, but later witnessed her repeatedly requesting money from park-goers.

Wang recounted the woman's claims of being from Vietnam and lacking funds for food, asking for small monetary contributions. Wang also mentioned the woman's interactions with her husband, even extending to an invitation to go out with him. Wang expressed concern that the woman's actions detracted from the park's purpose as a recreational space. A Shin Min reporter's visit to the park on February 13th revealed the woman's absence, but numerous personal belongings, including toiletries, a mattress, and luggage, were found behind a public toilet. \Another park visitor, 58-year-old He, confirmed the woman's regular presence, particularly during mornings and evenings. He mentioned instances of her occupying the public toilet for extended periods, inconveniencing other park users. He stated that he had also been asked for money by the woman, which he refused. Upon the reporter's return to the park around 9 pm, the woman was discovered sleeping in the pavilion. Identified as Zhuang, and in her 40s, she confirmed her Vietnamese origin and admitted to sleeping in the park for the past two months. She explained that she leaves the park during the day and returns at night to sleep, and admitted to soliciting funds from park-goers, citing unemployment as the reason. Zhuang revealed that she had been in the country for several years, previously working as an office cleaner to support her parents back in Vietnam. She maintained that she was not overstaying her visa, emphasizing her belief that authorities would eventually provide her with accommodation. When questioned regarding her living situation, she stated her comfort with residing in the park, highlighting the proximity of the pavilion to the public toilet. \Zhong, a 70-year-old security guard working at the park, corroborated the woman's prolonged presence. He recalled providing her with $4 on one occasion out of compassion. Zhong indicated that he was aware of the public's dissatisfaction with her actions and confirmed the police's visits to the park on four separate occasions due to the concerns. He noted the inconsistency in the woman's narratives, observing that she presented varying accounts of her circumstances to different individuals. He mentioned that she sometimes claimed to have been dismissed by her employer or to have had a dispute with her husband. Additionally, he mentioned the occasional appearance of a man who seemed to be her boyfriend. Zhuang acknowledged the police's interactions with her, asserting that she had not been instructed to leave the park. She expressed her intention to seek alternative accommodation once she secures employment. Zhong characterized the woman's demeanor as generally quiet and polite, noting that she often greeted him and inquired about his meals
